We are Marching on here at 10 Fitch into SPRING! Can you tell we are excited?? There are a lot of events to attend springing up around our town, here are some of them :
March 1st - Opening Day for the Seward House Museum, 33 South Street, Auburn, NY. The Seward House Museum opens for the season on March 1, 2016. This year we are celebrating 200 years of history at 33 South Street. This property was purchased in 1816 by Judge Elijah Miller in the up-and-coming city of Auburn, New York. A ten-room Federal style townhouse was constructed for his family, which included two daughters, his sister, and his mother. Little did Judge Miller know that the house would become home to one of the most important politicians in the 19th century and his eventual son-in-law William Henry Seward. March 5th - Hot Cocoa and Snow-Moonlit Snowshoe, 2295 Route 89, Savannah, NY. 6 pm - 8pm. Get ready for a moonlit snowshoe adventure! We'll travel along the trails at the MAC looking and listening for wild creatures of the night! Afterwards, we'll warm up in the Center with hot cocoa! There is a fee for this program. March 5th - Red Red Wine, Seneca Lake Wine Trail. 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. This is one of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail's newest wine and food pairing events. Embrace the many terrific red wines our region is rapidly becoming better known for, all paired with innovative dishes prepared by the many participating wineries. Check in at your chosen starting winery, pick up your ticket, then enjoy a self-guided tour around beautiful Seneca Lake during this one day event. Spring Walk, Sterling Nature Center, 15380 Jenzvolt Road, Sterling, NY. What signs of spring are we going to find at the nature center? March 19th - April 3rd - Maple Sugar Weekend Open House, Wohlschlegel’s Naples Maple Farm, 8064 Coates Road, Naples, NY. Recurring every 2 weeks, Saturday and Sunday. 8 am - 4 pm. Spring means sugar maple season and why not take some time to learn about how that delicious treat is made? Enjoy this free open house with samples galore of different maple products: moxilicious maple cream, syrups, maple mustard and more. Visit the sugarhouse for a tour and take a walk through the woods to see how the sap is gathered. Breakfast will be served for several hours each morning, featuring fresh maple syrup (for a price). 2nd Annual Bacon on the Lakein, Cayuga Lake Wine Trail. The follow up year to our highly successful Bacon event is here! You’ll receive a souvenir wineglass at your starting point winery and recipe cards at each of the 16 wineries as you savor all the delectable bacon! Besides sampling bacon infused dishes, you’ll sample a wine that compliments that dish, and also be offered up to 3 more additional wine tastings.
In addition, make sure to visit each of the 16 wineries to be eligible to win a BBQ themed gift basket containing BBQ sauces, utensils, and so much more! March 23rd - March 26th - Sister’s Easter Catechism, 8 Exchange Street, Auburn, NY.
Celebrate the Easter Season with Sister as she answers the time worn questions of the season like “Why isn’t Easter the same day every year like Christmas?” and “Will My Bunny Go To Heaven?” Part pageant, and wHOLY hysterical, this latest of the sinfully funny Late Nite Catechism series unearths the origins of Easter bunnies, Easter eggs, Easter bonnets, Easter baskets, and of course those yummy Easter Peeps. Sister answers questions about pet heaven and the significance of those adorable baby chicks! Classroom participation is a must, so don’t forget to wear your Easter bonnet and join Sister for this seasonal treat! Wed 2pm, Thurs & Sat 2pm & 7:30pm. March 26th - May 22nd - Made in NY, Schweinfurth Art Center, 205 Genesee Street, Auburn, NY. Made in NY is an annual exhibit at the Schweinfurth Art Center located in Auburn, New York that features work by New York artists. This eclectic exhibition showcases two and three-dimensional work including, but not limited to, photography, sculpture, ceramics, painting, drawing, fiber, installation and video. The exhibit encourages creativity and innovation, and includes all mediums. Tue-Sat 10am-5pm, Sun 1pm-5pm. Admission: Exhibit Admission is $10 Adults. $8 for Seniors.
