Jan. 1st - Jan. 8th - Lights on the Lake, Onondaga Lake Park, Liverpool, NY. Since 1990, Two miles of breathtaking beauty await visitors at the Lights on the Lake. Jan. 1st - Jan. 8th - Quilts=Art=Quilts, Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center, 205 Genesee St., Auburn, NY. Quilts=Art=Quilts is the Schweinfurth Art Center's 32nd annual juried quilt exhibition. The Art Center has long recognized the importance of quilts as a visual medium, and has been presenting quilts in an art gallery setting since 1981. Jan. 7th - Owl Prowl, Sterling Nature Center, 15380 Jenzvold Road, Sterling, NY. Nesting season is beginning for the great horned owls. Join Naturalist Jim D'Angelo for an indoor introduction to the great-horned owl and other New York State owls. Then venture out on an owl prowl looking and listening for the nocturnal king of the sky. Please remember to dress for the weather and snowshoes will be available if needed. 4:00 pm. Jan. 7th - Krish Mohan, Comedian, Auburn Public Theater, 8 Exchange Street, Auburn, NY. Krish is a socially conscious Indian stand-up comedian and writer who regularly performs at small theaters, bars, comedy clubs, colleges and DIY venues across the country. He focuses on idea based stand-up tackling race, religion, immigration, relationships, political and social issues. Jan. 14th- Finger Lakes Beer Dinner, 391 Main Street, Aurora, NY. With over 50 micro-breweries, the Finger Lakes is home to a thriving craft beer community. From intense IPAs to easy-drinking lagers, the beers of our neighbors in and around Aurora have won acclaim both regionally and nationally. This paired dinner brings together some of our favorite local beers and their brewers, including Joe Shelton and Mark Grimaldi from Aurora Ale & Lager Co., Tom and Carrie Thompson from Bottomless Brewing, Derric Slocum from Lunkenheimer Craft Brewing Company, and Garrett Shepherd from the Good Shepherds Brewing Company.
