Auburn, NY - October 1st - October 31st, Events in the Finger Lakes Near 10 Fitch

A weekend away is what you both need :) The month of October is the perfect time to do just that. Here are some events going on in and around Auburn, New York, during the month of October. 



Sept. 30th - Oct. 2nd - 34th Annual Great Downtown Ithaca Apple Harvest Festival, 171 E M.L.K. Jr. Street, Ithaca, NY. The 2016 Apple Harvest Festival hosts plenty of apples, local produce, fresh baked goods, family entertainment at every turn, games, rides, prizes and live performances on two stages. Apple Harvest Festival is a great introduction to the rich farm and artist community of Ithaca. Check out the Downtown Ithaca website for more info. Admission: Free




Oct. 1st - Oct. 2nd - The Great Cortland Pumpkinfest, Courthouse Park, Cortland, NY.
The festival offers something for everyone! Crafters, Children's Games, Entertainment, Food, 5K Race or Walk, Antique Tractors, Hay Rides, Tons of Pumpkins, Exhibits and Displays. Oct 1st - Nov. 26th - The McKenzie Tour at Finger Lakes Distilling, 4676 State Route 414, Burdett, NY. The tour lasts approximately 60 minutes and consists of a brief introductory video, a walking tour of the distillery, a sampling of three spirits, and a complimentary Finger Lakes Distilling glass. The focus of the tour will be on the production of McKenzie Whiskeys – grain handling, processing, fermenting, distilling, and barrel aging – though other spirits will be covered, as well. Oct. 5th - Oct. 19th -  Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival Presents - Tenderly: The Rosemary Clooney Musical, Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, 6877 East Lake Road, Auburn, NY. Oct. 6th - 10X10=ART, The Schweinfurth Art Center, 205 Genesee St., Auburn, NY. Support and celebrate the Schweinfurth Art Center and its 35th Anniversary! Opening event Thursday, 10/6/16 5:00 – 9:00 pm. Tickets: $35 member / $40 non-members. Tickets may be purchased online at www.myartcenter.org or by calling the Art Center at 315-255-1553. Enjoy food, beverages, and live music. Open to ages 21 and up.Silent auction of all items with opening bid of $35. Artwork will be exhibited anonymously. Artist names will be revealed to the buyer. Oct. 8th - Auburn Farmer’s Co-op Market : Cider Weekend, Curley’s Parking Lot, 96 State Street, Auburn, NY. Enjoy autumn at the market with Cider Weekend from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Stick around to shop, the Market will be open regular hours. The market features vendors selling local honey, fresh vegetables, fruit, flowers, baked goods, syrup, cider, wine, meat, eggs, jam and more. Every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, 7:00 am – 2:00 pm. Oct. 8th - Oct. 10th - Letchworth Arts and Crafts Show & Festival, 1 Letchworth State Park, Castile, NY. Enjoy peak fall foliage at the spectacular "Grand Canyon of the East" along with the best in pottery, paintings, quilts and fiber arts, handcrafted jewelry, photography, furniture, decorative painting, dried floral pieces and more -- just in time for holiday gift shopping. Over 300 artisans display their wares along with plenty of food vendors and many other activities for the whole family. Live music performances and demonstrations are scheduled at 1 pm each day. Oct. 8th - Bristol Mountain Fall Festival, 5662 Route 64, Canandaigua, NY. 10 am - 5 pm. The
hills are alive with vibrant colors during a Finger Lakes autumn. Take a scenic Sky Ride to view the peak fall foliage, enjoy live music by local bands at the base area and at the summit, and visit wine, beer, spirits and food vendors along with unique craft vendors. If you don't want to ride to the top, take a hike up the mountain where you can still enjoy a spectacular view of the surrounding hills. Add to that the entertainment of the Scottish Highland Games competition held at the base of Bristol Mountain. Marvel at the determination and strength of dozens of competitors. Oct. 8th - Harvest Festival, Treleaven by King Ferry Winery, 658 Lake Road, King Ferry, NY. Fall is our favorite time of year at Treleaven and we’re throwing a party to celebrate the season! Oct. 15th - Oct. 16th - The Salt City Fall Antiques Expo, Empire Expo Center, NYS Fairgrounds, 581 State Fair Blvd, Syracuse, NY. Since 1991, features over 225 exhibitors displaying and selling a wide variety of antiques and collectibles for the serious antique collector. Oct. 21st Finger Lakes Beer Festival, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Garage, 2790 County Route 16, Watkins Glen, NY. Noon till 5pm. Advance tickets, $35. Hosted inside heated facility (NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Garage)Finger Lakes Beer Trail and Watkins Glen International bring you over 30 New York State craft breweries and distilleries. October 21st – 22nd Haunted History Tours of Auburn, Seward House Museum, 33 South St. Auburn NY 13021. Costumed guides take guests around the Seward House grounds and to the gates of Fort Hill Cemetery, sharing macabre tales of Victorian funeral practices, spectral encounters from Seward family lore, and other spooky accounts drawn from folklore and history. 6:00 and 7:00 pm. Museum open Tuesday – Saturday 10 am – 5 pm | Sunday (June - August) 1 - 5 pm. Oct. 22nd - Old Fashion Halloween, 6880 East Lake Road, Auburn, NY. 11am-4pm. Admission: Free (donations accepted) Bring the little ones to the Museum/Ed Center for an afternoon of old fashioned fun and entertainment. Visit the haunted herb garden or partake in the many activities for young and old. Face painting, coloring contests, pumpkin carving and much much more. All children are invited to come in costume and participate in the Grand Parade that will take place at 3 PM sharp. There will be Trick-or-Treating for all youth 12 and under throughout the museum. Costumes will be judged and prizes will be awarded.


Oct. 22nd - Chestnut Festival, Goose Watch Winery, 5480 State Route 89, Romulus, NY. Each fall we harvest the chestnuts grown right at Goose Watch Winery and host one of the biggest, most delicious celebrations of the year! Come enjoy LIVE music while you sample a variety of foods made from our own chestnuts. Enjoy a tasting of our wines and warm mulled wine and be sure to leave room for BBQ food from Thurston’s & ice cream from Cayuga Creamery! While you’re here you can also have fun playing lawn games while overlooking the beautiful fall foliage on Cayuga Lake! There is no admission fee with wine and food items available for purchase.
